The luxurious Fairmont Hotel in downtown Vancouver has made the business of environmental sustainability good for its business. As just one of 46 Five Green Key Rated hotels in the world, the Fairmont Hotel is working to be zero waste by the end of the year.
Their restaurant has a local food focus and even produces some of their own leafy greens and herbs on a green roof. Bee hives—four of them–on the third floor terrace is a popular tour with guests. In 2015 about 500 guests toured the pollinator garden roof during the May-September season. The hives and gardens are part of the Vancouver Pollinator Corridor Project.
