Preserving Trees in Our Communities will be held at Haverford College. Tree canopy provides important ecosystem services, like removing air pollution, mitigating storm water runoff and conserving energy. Tree canopy also benefits wildlife by providing habitat and humans through positive wellbeing, community cohesion and economic development. Speakers include Joseph Townsend, University of Delaware, on benefits of trees in the urban environment; Jason Henning, USDA Forest Service, on computerized tools, like iTree, to measure canopy cover; and Scott Wade, Longwood Gardens, on Pennsylvania Champion Trees.
